DIY Hair Detangler
Making your own personal hygiene/beauty products is great because you create less waste, control the ingredients, and avoid all chemicals. They’re pennies on the dollar compared to the store bought plastic alternatives, and you can have some fun mixing fragrances exactly to your liking.
Here we have a DIY hair detangler recipe + tutorial. Now, I don’t love that two of the ingredients came in plastic bottles, however I will create several products from one bottle, and properly recycle afterwards. However, refillable/sustainable bottles would be better choices.
Ingredients:
Liquid Coconut Oil
Castor Oil
Sweet Almond Oil
Lavender Essential Oil
Tea Tree Essential Oil
Mix equal parts liquid coconut oil, castor oil, and sweet almond oil into a bowl. Then add 15 drops of both the lavender and tea tree essential oil. Stir it up. Then fill your glass spray bottle halfway with the oil mixture. Fill the rest with water. Boom!
A little bit goes a LONG way with this stuff, so less is definitely more. I use it after a shower when my hair is really tangly, or after getting out of the ocean.
